Getting Started — Marie's Adventure

Marie’s Adventure is a single-player, English-only Windows H-RPG from No Budget Developer. It launched August 6, 2026 on Steam (app 4819360), itch.io, and DLsite for roughly $15. The pitch is straightforward: Marie gains a fertility blessing that guarantees pregnancy after sex and accelerates gestation. Births power up Marie and her allies, so your run is structured around conceive → explore → deliver → repeat. This guide covers day one without spoiling late-story beats.

Before you launch

Install from your storefront of choice and expect Windows Defender to sometimes flag the executable — a known launch issue covered in Troubleshooting. Add the game folder to antivirus exclusions before first launch if Defender already quarantined the .exe. The game ships optional explicit content toggles; if you want to adjust birth scenes, x-ray views, or lactation later, see Content Settings after the tutorial.

There is single-player only and no controller-first tutorial beyond standard RPG menus. Save often once pregnancy mechanics unlock — you will want rollback points if you experiment with multiples later.

First hour checklist

  1. Complete the opening tutorial fights. Combat is turn-based with skill selection and positioning basics. Losing early battles wastes time but does not soft-lock pregnancy progression.
  2. Talk to every NPC in the starting area. Quest flags and shop inventory gating often hide behind one-off dialogue.
  3. Reach Sylva City. This hub becomes your long-term base. The inn here is the only reliable birth location — sleeping elsewhere at 100% pregnancy will not trigger labor scenes.
  4. Learn the pregnancy UI. Track percentage in the status menu. At 100%, return to Sylva City Inn and sleep to deliver.
  5. Bookmark the Pregnancy System guide once Marie’s blessing activates — most new-player confusion comes from misunderstanding what advances gestation.

Opening town scene

The rule every beginner misses

Pregnancy advances when you move and do things in the world — not when you sleep. Sleeping at an inn without being at 100% does not tick gestation forward. This is intentional: the developer confirmed on itch.io that players must walk, fight, take brothel shifts, or otherwise stay active.

Practical routing for your first pregnancy:

  • Conceive through story scenes or brothel work as the narrative allows.
  • Walk town maps or dungeon corridors to raise the percentage bar.
  • Monitor milk capacity in the menu if you care about baby count (300 = one child; +50 per extra — details in How to Get Multiples).
  • At 100%, go to Sylva City Inn, interact with the clerk if prompted, and sleep to start birth.

If you sleep three nights at a village inn and wonder why nothing happened, you skipped the exploration step. That is the most common day-one mistake.

Sylva City Inn versus every other bed

No Budget Developer stated that birth scenes only fire in Sylva City. Resting at Seliana or your starting village may heal or advance story time, but labor is hard-gated to Sylva. Plan return trips before dungeons that keep you away for long stretches.

Full delivery steps — including save timing before sleep — live in How to Give Birth.

Combat and exploration basics

Dungeon crawling serves double duty: XP, loot, story flags, and pregnancy ticks. Turn-based fights pause world movement but still count as active play once you resume walking. Balance dungeon depth against how close you are to 100%; overstaying without an inn plan means backtracking to Sylva.

Turn-based combat

Equipment and skills follow classic JRPG patterns. Prioritize survivability early — wiping sends you back without progressing pregnancy. There is no shame in grinding lower floors until Marie’s kit feels stable.

Brothel work — when to start

Brothel shifts unlock a separate progression axis: sluttiness level, which affects certain scenes and dialogue. Work is optional for story completion but valuable for gold and character beats. Brothel time still requires you to move around afterward if you want the pregnancy bar to climb — see the dedicated Brothel Guide before committing to long work streaks.

Church and fertility (optional early visit)

The Church raises fertility stats used when rolling how many children you carry. It is not mandatory for your first singleton birth, but visit before you start save-scumming for twins or more. Fertility upgrades stack with the save-reload method described in How to Get Multiples.

After this page:

  1. Pregnancy System — numbers, UI fields, and progression math.
  2. How to Give Birth — 100% checklist and Sylva Inn sequence.
  3. Content Settings — if any explicit category feels too much or too little.

Day-one mistakes to avoid

  • Sleeping to progress pregnancy (wrong — walk instead).
  • Expecting birth at any inn (wrong — Sylva City only).
  • Assuming repeated creampies change baby count (wrong — roll is set at conception; see multiples guide).
  • Ignoring Defender warnings until the executable vanishes (wrong — exclude the folder early).

Marie’s Adventure rewards planning over rushing. Establish Sylva as home base, treat exploration as your gestation engine, and use sleep only when the bar reads 100% and you are standing in the right inn.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does sleeping at an inn progress pregnancy in Marie's Adventure?

No. Pregnancy percentage increases when you walk, fight, and perform activities in the world. Sleep only triggers birth at Sylva City Inn when you are already at 100%.

Where is the only place to give birth?

Sylva City Inn. The developer confirmed other inns intentionally do not fire labor scenes.

Is brothel work required to finish the game?

No, but it raises sluttiness and earns gold. It does not replace exploration for pregnancy advancement.

What platforms and languages are supported?

Windows only at launch, English interface, single-player, single-player only. Available on Steam, itch.io, and DLsite for about $15.

What should I read after this guide?

Continue to the Pregnancy System guide for milk capacity and Church fertility, then How to Give Birth for the Sylva Inn delivery sequence.
